SOCIAL SERVICES VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Services Volunteer Coordinator will help to facilitate and expand the various practical care efforts provided to households in our region through our volunteer network.

The coordinator will bring practical support and care for individuals and families who are newly arrived to Canada or who are struggling with poverty and/or practical needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates a commitment to growing in Christ.

  • Agreement with the statements of faith, vision and values of Bethany Community Church.

  • Experience in serving individuals and families in need.

  • Experience and demonstrable skills in directing volunteers.

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • A current vulnerable sector police background check.

  • Preferred area of studies: Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychotherapy.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Social Services Volunteer Coordinator will be directly accountable to the Pastor of Family Life.

MAIN DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Pastor of Family Life, this position is for 40 hours per week and will include:

  • Facilitate care by identifying and providing specific support around poverty reduction, health concerns, and other needs

  • Coordinate support with our volunteer network

  • Establish time frames of care 

  • Establish metrics for measuring the positive impact of our efforts towards those receiving support

  • Assess if needs have been met at the agreed-upon endpoint, thereby ending care, or establishing a new time frame and support plan

  • Purchasing and/or delivering groceries or prepared meals

  • Finding and/or donating clothing 

  • Transportation for medical or other important appointments

  • Presence and conversation

TERMS

40 hours per week, duration of 10 weeks* starting June 17, 2024. Paid hourly wage.

*this position is based off government funding, duration in weeks may vary
