COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for assisting in the planning and executing of social media strategies to raise awareness and increase engagement of Bethany programs, in addition to contributing to communications initiatives and projects as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates a commitment to growing in Christ.

  • Agreement with the statements of faith, vision and values of Bethany Community Church.

  • Demonstration of curating and creating content on a variety of social media channels, such as graphics and short form videos.

  • In-app expertise on Instagram and Facebook. Demonstrated ability to communicate well in written form for multiple audiences.

  • A keen interest in social media trends, updates and in-app changes.

  • Solid computer skills.

  • Fully aligned with the message, mission, and ministry strategy.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.

  • A current vulnerable sector police background check.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Communications Assistant will be directly accountable to the Communications Director.

MAIN DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Communications Director, this position is for 36 hours per week and will include:

  • Assisting in the planning, organizing and facilitating of communications campaigns and strategies.

  • Organizing and facilitating campaign strategies.

  • Graphic design for both print and digital mediums

  • Organizing and maintaining a social media calendar and scheduler

  • Managing key communications channels i.e. website, email campaigns, socials etc

  • Copywriting and editing for a variety of scopes and formats

  • Reformatting preexisting media for social platforms

  • Contributing to special projects

  • Bringing creative, intuitive and experimental energy to workload and working environments.

TERMS

35 hours per week, duration of 16 weeks*. Paid hourly wage.

SALARY RANGE: $17.20/hour
