FIRST IMPRESSIONS + WELCOMING ASSISTANT

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant will provide support to First Impressions & Welcoming at Bethany, through managing the volunteer welcoming team, scheduling, planning, facilitating events, both live and pre-recorded services, as well as creative content.

  • A passion for people and helping them feel welcome and included.  

  • An understanding and desire for hospitality. 

  • A creative eye for creating warm and welcoming spaces.  

  • An understanding of online systems and processes.

  • Experience in leading volunteers would be an asset.

  • A current vulnerable sector police background check.

  • Weekend availability.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The First Impressions & Welcoming Assistant will be directly accountable to the First Impressions & Welcoming Director.

MAIN DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working in conjunction with and under the supervision of the First Impressions & Welcoming Director, this position is for 36 hours per week and will include:

  • Participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Bethany’s first impressions and welcoming department. 

  • Creating and facilitating welcoming spaces and procedures for people to feel welcome and easily access appropriate programs for their needs.

  • Assisting with planning, organizing and training welcoming volunteers and any events or meetings.

  • Facilitating the inclusion of attenders, with a focus on support for those with disabilities and/or marginalized people.

  • Championing the values and goals of First Impressions & Welcoming. 

  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as scheduling, event planning, set-up and tear-down (including tech), ordering/purchasing/stocking supplies, cleaning/organizing welcoming areas, and corresponding with volunteers and newcomers.

  • Assisting with reception and other front-desk administrative tasks, as needed.

  • Preparing progress reports.

  • Ensure all Public Health guidelines and best practices are adhered to.

TERMS

36 hours per week, duration of 16 weeks*. Paid hourly wage.

SALARY RANGE: $16.60-$19.10
