WOMEN’S PRECEPT BIBLE STUDY (ISAIAH PART 2): Last fall and winter, 38 women joined together on an exciting, challenging and enlightening journey through the book of Isaiah. We have, to date, completed the first 39 chapters, in which we heard the prophet Isaiah give scathing denunciations and pronouncements as he called Judah, Israel and the surrounding nations to repent of their sins. This first section had a stern tone, like a father’s lecture before he administers discipline! The remaining 27 chapters are very different, containing much love, comfort and hope as Isaiah unfolds God’s promise of future blessings through His Messiah. This portion of the book is more like after the discipline - when your Father takes you in His everlasting arms and draws you so close that you can feel the beat of His heart!
In September, we are offering the Isaiah Part 2 Precept Study, entitled “Comfort My People.” The class will be offered on Tuesdays at 9:15 am in Room 216 and 7:15 pm off-site. We will start with an intro class on Sep 7 and continue with regular classes each week to follow. Please join us, even if you did not do Part 1 with us. The verses in Isaiah will equip you, strengthen you and ready you for living your days ahead, as you gain a deeper understanding, for yourself, of what it means for God to be your Holy One, your Lord and your King - there is no other!
For more info and to register, visit the kiosk on Aug 21/22 or 28/29 OR contact Sharon Shantz (Bethany attender) at 905-935-5693 or sharon_shantz@hotmail.com OR Ann Martin (Bethany attender) at 905-934-7037 or wmartin1@cogeco.ca. We look forward to hearing from you. Note: cost of the course is $21/person (covers the cost of the required workbook).
WOMEN’S TUESDAY AM BIBLE STUDY (GALATIANS): The book of Galatians is very relevant for us today. Just like the Galatian people, we have come to Christ by faith, powerless to win God's favour apart from His saving mercy. In Galatia, there were certain people who were saying, "In order to keep God's favour, you have to maintain His standards by your own efforts." To safeguard the essence of the gospel, the apostle Paul reaffirms that we can only live right with God by faith in Him and His empowering presence in us. This is still true for us today as we will discover in our study of Galatians.
This 12-week study will be offered on Tuesdays, 9:30-11 am in Room 118, starting Sep 7 with a brief introduction to the study and an informal social time. We will continue with the study each week to follow. No cost for this study. Volunteers are needed to bring finger food each week. For more info and to register, visit the kiosk on Aug 21/22 or 28/29 OR contact Marie Wiens (Bethany attender) at 905-685-4946 or emwiens@cogeco.ca.
