Our Mission

In 1991 a group of Bethany leaders articulated what had already begun to emerge as a hallmark of the church’s identity and passion.  "To be a caring community for a hurting world" became Bethany's mission and guided the church for many years. 

In 2008, Bethany's Mission Statement was re-evaluated by the Board of Overseers with input from staff and the congregation.  Although our current statement served us well and kept us on track in fulfilling our unique role in our community for 17 years, the importance of becoming whole-hearted followers of Jesus, was lacking in our mission statement.  Leadership also felt a new statement would provide more direction and definition to the development of our Strategic Plan.  In wanting to honour Bethany's past as well as look forward to what God had in store for us as a congregation for the future, the new statement became:

"To be a CARING community, GROWING in Christ, LOVING others, and SERVING a hurting world."

Bethany Church exists to fulfill this mission.  The action words, caring, growing, loving and serving are constant reminders for how we are to live our lives individually and as the body of Christ.  We pray that this statement will continually motivate us to become a church that honours God.
